Mounting fears for missing hitchhiker


Fears are mounting for a young Slovakian woman who was last seen trying to hitch a ride just 15km from her South Island home.

Martina Direrova, 22, was wearing long shorts, jandals, a t-shirt and carrying only her small handbag when she was last spotted on Motueka Valley Highway, near Ngatimoti, at 2pm on Saturday.

Police spokeswoman Barbara Dunn told NZ Newswire Ms Direrova was trying to catch a lift to buy groceries in Motueka - 15km down the road - which she did often.

Ms Direrova has not been seen since and her friends have not heard from her.

"We are concerned, yes," says Ms Dunn.

"We would like to know what she is up to and speak to anyone who may have seen her or given her a ride."

Ms Direrova has been living in New Zealand since November and is staying at a fruit pickers bach.

She planned to return to her home country next month.

Ms Direrova, is thin, 1.8m tall, with shoulder-length curly blonde hair.

 在紐西蘭已經發生過好多好多好多次此類事件(甚至連同與年輕力壯的男友同行的男女一對朋友,同時失蹤,超過10年還找不到屍體,犯案嫌疑人雖被盯上,但無屍體就表示可能未被殺害,紐西蘭警方無能為力);是以樓上樓主所說"可以多停留個半小時或一小時，會有更多的選擇"一節,非常不贊同,個人覺得根本不要考慮搭便車!!!!完全不要存任何僥倖之心,在紐西蘭搭便車是非常不安全的,別以為來車駕駛同為女性就放心登車,但沒想到行駛10分鐘後,該女性駕駛再度路邊停車接上幾位男性朋友,結果....
